An evening of English music rich in lyricism and reflection, featuring the Elgar Sinfonia of London and The London Chorus. The programme centres on Finzi’s Intimations of Immortality, a deeply moving setting of Wordsworth’s ode for chorus and orchestra, alongside a selection of Elgar songs and Gordon Jacob’s orchestration of Elgar’s Organ Sonata, bringing symphonic colour and renewed depth to one of his most substantial works.

Mahler Symphony No. 7

A rare opportunity to experience Mahler’s Symphony No. 7, a work of striking contrasts and atmospheric intensity. Moving from shadowy, mysterious opening textures through two haunting “Nachtmusik” movements, the symphony unfolds into a bold and exuberant finale. Under the direction of Chris Hopkins, Orchestra of the City brings to life this richly imaginative and dramatic journey through night into light.
